A TREE SWALLOW was high overhead, however. I found an immature FERRUGINOUS HAWK at the intersection of Richmond Ave and Santa Teresa Blvd, in Coyote Valley. This is a different bird than the adult that has been around here most of the winter, but may be the same bird that Mike Rogers and I had nearby on the 1st of the year. The Coyote Creek Golf Club pond had a pair of HOODED MERGANSERS. I saw 2 male RING-NECKED PHEASANTS at Monterey Hwy and the entrance road to the golf course. This is not the typical area for this species (as is the Bay edge), but it was found at least once on the Calero CBC a few years ago.
