The largest invasion happened around December 26 with about 20 Pine Siskins. The numbers have tapered off since then to about 4-6 birds daily in January. Also, this year, I have had more American Goldfinches than Lesser Goldfinches, about 4 to 1. Normally, during the winter the ratio is just the opposite with more Lesser Goldfinches. Last Saturday Jan.28, George Schuttinger and I saw a Peregrine Falcon on a tower as we walked the Stevens Creek Trail near Whistman Park in Mountain View.
