Re: [SBB] possible Philadelphia Vireo

Tom -

It was quite a day for my group. But it is great news to learn your camera survived the fall.

Regarding your vireo - my group had good views of a Warbling Vireo. Our bird did not have the amount of yellow your bird shows in your pictures.

We did watch what appeared to be a young male ROSE BREASTED GROSBEAK as he fed on berries right off La' Avenida and the trail entrance.

Also wanted to mention the Alviso Marina County Park is now open to the public. The parking lot is complete, the bathrooms are done and beautiful new boardwalks take you out to the Alviso Slough Trail. They did a nice job out there.

While in Alviso we were surprised to find a family of TREE SWALLOWS hanging our with all the Barn Swallows. We also ran into an old Santa Clara Valley Audubon member Mark Miller.
He too was at State & Spreckles looking through all the shorebirds.

Mike Rogers just got in touch and confirmed my suspicion that the pictures
I just posted may show a Philadelphia Vireo. I photographed the bird from
the east side of Stevens Creek, north of L'Avenida, and I believe before
the power lines. I didn't pay much attention to the bird when I saw it --
couldn't see any of its features in any detail until I post-processed my
digital images back at home. Mike R and Mike Mammoser are heading out now
to look for the bird.
