Re: [SBB] White Crowned Sparrows

Add Lake Cunningham to the list for WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS. Peter Doyle and I also saw 5 WESTERN BLUEBIRDS, 1 BEWICKS WREN, 1 YELLOW WARBLER, 1 female WESTERN TANAGER along the riparian area on the Cunninham Ave side of the park near the pedestrian bridge. 16 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS flew in while we were there.

We then went to Coyote Creek from Eden Park Place. It was eerily quiet, not even a Bushtit. Then the thunder and lightening started. I guess the birds know.

Hi all,
I, too, saw the first of the fall White Crown in my yard last evening (9/20/05). I guess fall has arrived?

Monday evening I had my first ever Great Egret in my backyard. I have no clue what attracted it to my 'middle-of-the-suburbs' yard. It didn't stay long.

I saw the first (of this year) mature White Crown in the yard this morning. I looked out around 3:00 this afternoon, and there were several first winter WC working over some Juniper bushes. There was one Gold Crown and mature White Crown nearby, also.

It will take a lot of feed this winter for all the Quail and Sparrows. I tend to make my own mix, so there is something for everyone.

We also had an Acorn Woodpecker at the bird bath yesterday.
