Hi all,
I, too, saw the first of the fall White Crown in my yard last evening (9/20/05). I guess fall has arrived?
Monday evening I had my first ever Great Egret in my backyard. I have no clue what attracted it to my 'middle-of-the-suburbs' yard. It didn't stay long.

I saw the first (of this year) mature White Crown in
the yard this morning. I looked out around 3:00 this
afternoon, and there were several first winter WC
working over some Juniper bushes. There was one Gold
Crown and mature White Crown nearby, also.
It will take a lot of feed this winter for all the
Quail and Sparrows. I tend to make my own mix, so
there is something for everyone.
We also had an Acorn Woodpecker at the bird bath
yesterday.
