[SBB] Golden-crowned Sparrow etc. 9/13/2005

A late afternoon stop by the Gate 5 pond at Monte Bello OSP yesterday 9/13/2005 turned up a single, winter-plumaged adult Golden-crowned Sparrow, my first of the fall, as well as singleton Chipping, Lincoln's, and Savannah Sparrows. Lots of juncos and Songs too. 3 Northern Shovelers were a first for the pond and included an immature male.

At Hidden Villa's kids' garden an adult White-crowned Sparrow was present during the day. Incidentally, our kid's programs at HV are seeking volunteers right now to help guide kids around the farm and/or surrounding woods once a week. We could really use some more help so let me know offline if you would like to know more about it. (Call it planting the seeds for a new generation of birders and conservationists!)
