South Bay Birders,
This afternoon at the San Francisco Bay NWR Environmental Education Center
in Alviso, I had a Blackpoll Warbler in the trees next to the picnic
shelter. Two Yellow Warblers and an Orange-crowned were also in these
trees, and 2 other Yellows were elsewhere around the EEC. My first
White-crowned Sparrow of the fall, an immature, was in the butterfly garden
here. A check of salt pond A16 turned up a worn, near-adult Glaucous-winged
Gull, probably a fourth-summer bird, but little else of interest. The
juvenile Stilt Sandpiper was in New Chicago Marsh at State and Spreckles.
A check of the Sunnyvale WPCP turned up nothing unusual.
Good birding,
Steve Rottenborn
