All,
I stopped by New Chicago Marsh on the way home from work this evening 8/31/05, hoping that the Ruff would still be hanging around. Scoping from State and Spreckles turned up the juvenile STILT SANDPIPER and many LESSER YELLOWLEGS, but no Ruff. I did see a Plegadis Ibis (almost certainly a WHITE-FACED IBIS) fly out of the marsh from east of the railroad tracks and head north along Artesian Slough just after 7:00pm though. A few adult male TRICOLORED BLACKBIRDS flew over with the various blackbird flocks.
Mike Mammoser joined me for a hike partway out the railroad tracks, but no Ruff was found there either :(
Mike Rogers
