All,
I swung by CCFS and easily found the Plumbeous Vireo immediately
north of net lane 9515 near the creek end of the reveg zone. It was
singing softly as it worked through some sycamores and other trees. It
moved north a bit, then flew further north along the riparian corridor,
perhaps 20-30 yards. Seems like it's covering a fairly wide area, so it
certainly helps that it's singing a bit! This was around 8:45. No sign
of the Gray Catbird.
Also had a loosely-associated "flock" of 10+ Fox Sparrows closer
to the trailer along the weedy edges of the reveg area. A Merlin
perched in the tall Eucs along the creek, and then later presumably the
same bird was perched on the mostly bare couple of Redwoods near the
trailer.
I then briefly tried for the Black-throated Blue Warbler at
Sunnyvale Baylands Park on my way to work without success. I had missed
it yesterday afternoon as well in 2+ hours of looking. Yesterday there
was a White-throated Sparrow near the grassy "knoll" along the wall
labelled "1993 Baylands Grove". Didn't have time to look for it again
this morning. Cheers,
Richard
