Re: [SBB] Canada Warbler still at CCFS

Hi all,

I spent most of the late morning searching through the CCFS riparian zone
in hopes (not high hopes!) of finding the Plumbeous Vireo. No vireos of any
type were seen. Moving over to the reveg area I spotted the CANADA WARBKER
at 12:15 in the "tran K,L,M" banding lane and then later, after Mike M. had
departed, a glimpse at about 2:15 at the bottom of steps trail entry point.
I believe he went north from there again.

I'm mentioning some of this because according to my information Saturday is
a regular CCFS banding day that uses "tran K,L,M", the banding lane where
the Canada Warbler is being seen today. The banding folks will not want
birders in or real near active net lanes so be prepared for that. I don't
know the specific hours of operation but early morning to late morning.
The good news is, of course, that the bird is being seen in the afternoon
today. For those not familiar, Coyote Creek Field Station access is
through membership in San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory so join up.

A Merlin was very active today. I saw the MERLIN in flight several times
as well as perched (twice). The perch spot was at the top of one of the
two snag redwoods in the middle of this reveg area between the previously
mentioned trail and net lane. The second time I saw the Merlin perched it
had a freshly caught Black Phoebe. Then a second Merlin did a flyby level
with and about 15 feet in front of the Merlin perched with its prey. There
was no noticeable reaction by the perched Merlin although it departed a
minute or so later.

I also had a WILSON'S WABLER on the trail at the bottom of the steps.
