There was a small flock of WOOD DUCKS on Sausal Pond in
the Windy Hill Preserve in Portala Valley from 11 a.m.
to 1 p.m. today. We counted five males and four females.
There may have been a few more. They were swimming in
and out of the snags and roosting under the willows
on the west side of the pond. They were still there
when we left at 1 p.m.
Just after we arrived, a PEREGRINE FALCON flew over
headed south.
About 1:30, we found a PERGRINE FALCON at the Gate 6 area
of Windy Hill about a mile south of Sausal Pond. This one
(same one?) landed on the top of an oak right in front of
us and provided great views and photo ops for about 30
seconds.
