[SBB] Oka Ponds



Good evening all....
 
Kristine Long and I birded Oka Ponds this morning...lots of great species:
 
Gadwall
Ruddy Ducks
Bufflehead
Common Mergansers (3 female, 1 male)
Canvasback
Ring-necked Ducks
Mallards
American Wigeons
Lesser Scaup
Wilson's Snipe
Yellowlegs (sp)
Great Blue Heron
Snowy Egret
Great Egret
Pied-billed Grebes
Coots
Common Moorhen (good species for the ponds)
Belted Kingfisher
Black Phoebe
Gold-crown Sparrows
White-crown Sparrow
Common Yellowthroats
Yellow-rumped Warblers
Ruby-crowned Kinglets
Anna's Hummingbirds (displaying)
Double-crested Cormorants
Mourning Doves
Rock Dove
Canada Geese
Oak Titmouse
House Finch
CA Towhee
Cooper's Hawk
Gull (sp?) this gull had yellow legs and no black tips when flying..any ideas?  Didn't catch the color of the bill!
Osprey (male with a fish)
 
Great Egrets were in Pond 1 in the tree with nests...also a single Great Blue Heron in the tree...this sight should be monitored for nesting!
 
All and all a great morning of birding...it was great to be back at Oka...
