I walked north along the Los Alamitos Creek trail from Camden this afternoon. I found a male Hairy Woodpecker at Graystone and Camden. I soon found a Downy and several Nuttalls Woodpeckers. A pair of No. Flickers in a tree were head bobbing and giving a warbling call. Then a beautiful Yellow shafted Flicker flew in with outstretch wings and perched in a tree top. It's under wings were a golden yellow but I didn't see a red crescent on its nape. Possibly a hybrid? This was not far from where I saw a YSFL several years ago.
Walking south on the equestrian trail and large male Bobcat with wonderful markings jumped on the fence in front of me and starred me down. He sat on the fence top and showed no fear, so I retreated.
I checked the creek at every opportunity for a pair of Hooded Mergansers with juvenile seen a week ago but failed to find them.
