[SBB] Plumbeous Vireo continues (CCFS)

Folks:

This morning, 11/1/05, I refound the PLUMBEOUS VIREO at the Coyote Creek Field Station at about 0925 hr.. It was east of the bander's trail along the creek in a grove of large cottonwoods, just south of net 9420, where the section of unmaintained trail starts. Nearby were many Yellow-rumped Warblers, a Ruby-crowned Kinglet, and a flock of Bushtits (low down). While I watched, the vireo stayed quite high in the trees and did not associate with any of the other passerines. Shortly before I found this bird, I heard what sounded to my ears as the standard song of Hutton's Vireo: "dreet" or "dreep." Hutton's are not often found on our urban creeks, and the "song" note was likely from the Plumbeous. It did not match any song or call notes for Plumbeous Vireo on Keller's California Birds CD set. Otherwise, this bird was silent. A female/immature MERLIN was in the eucalyptus near the banding trailers.
