[SBB] Palo Alto Neighborhood Raptors

White-tailed Kites have nested once again at the top of a pine tree near
my house in Palo Alto. The nest itself was never visible, but adults
have been present for quite some time with one of them almost always on
guard on top of a nearby redwood. Both trees can be seen well from the
front of 3390 Greer Rd. I saw the first well-feathered young kite on
April 20 and by the 29th had seen four of them. Two days later at least
one had flown from pine to redwood and since that time all four have fledged.

There is an old Cooper's Hawk nest in a street tree near 375 Parkside
Drive. On Saturday, May 7 I saw and heard two adults flying about before
one settled into the nest. I'm not sure how long they have been present
although I've checked the neighborhood from time to time in the last month.
