[SBB] Guadalupe Oak Grove Park

I birded at Guadalupe Oak Grove Park from 9 to 11 am today. It's usually birdy after a rain, and today was no exception. I heard Warbling Vireos in the trees over the parking lot, most unusual. Another pair of W. Vireos seen near the big rock in the open area. Walking towards the Vargas entrance I found a lingering Yellow rumped Warbler (Myrtle), female W. Bluebird and Oak Titmouse family in one tree. I heard singing Black headed Grosbeaks and found several along the pass and more going up the back hill. At the top of Blue Oak hill I found a female Wilson's Warbler in a Buckeye and a female W. Tanager perched nearby. A male Hooded Oriole and Bullocks Oriole pair were also seen along this trail. Yet another pair of Warbling Vireos were found along the ridge. The only Ash throated Flycatcher was calling loudly between the two sets of stairs on the lower trail. Apparently he hasn't attracted a mate yet. They have successfully nested in the same nest box for three consecutive years. Behind the bathrooms I found a singing male Wilson's Warbler, which has hung around for months now. A flock of Cedar Waxwings flew over several times, along with Violet Green and Rough winged Swallows. Several common woodland species were seen feeding young. On the wooded trail a pair of Bewicks Wrens had nested in a small log on the ground. I saw one adult feed nestlings and another remove a fecal sack. Curiously only one Black Phoebe was seen, a juvenile with buffy wing bars and yellow gape. A male W. Tanager was found as I walked back to the parking lot. A rare sight was a Great Blue Heron flying over the park headed to the lake.
