[SBB] Llagass Creek, Cattle Egrets & Blue-winged Teal

All,

This morning Frank Vanslager and I checked out the west side of Llagas Creek
north of Bloomfield Rd. As we were leaving, approaching Bloomfield Rd, we
had a CATTLE EGRET with three GREAT EGRETS on the northern edge of the plowed,
flooded field where Mark Paxton had three male Blue-winged Teal earlier
today (viewable from Bloomfield Rd). Earlier we had another Cattle Egret, this
time with three SNOWY EGRETS, perched on a wooden "weir" located several
hundred yards north of the water treatment plant (viewed from the hill located
north-northeast of the plant). We assume that these were two different CAEG as
we saw no egrets flying from the far northern part of the facility to the far
southern part of the facility. Earlier we also had three adult male and at
least one female BLUE-WINGED TEAL in the first settling pond located south of
the "hill," near the processing plant. Other notables included six
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS (one with a lot of black on it's belly and one very lightly
colored bird that eventually showed it's black axillaries), a couple DUNLIN
(well hidden among a hundred or so Dowitchers) and lots of GREATER YELLOWLEGS
(one in mostly breeding plumage showing extensive black barring on the flanks
and a lot of orange tint in the legs) in all of the various wet areas.
Nothing new among the passerines.

Take care,
Bob Reiling
