[SBB] AMBI, CAEG, and GOEGs

All:

After a successful Messier Marathon (108 M- objects seen out of 110 total,
and a Western Screech-owl singing all night long), rather than fight the Friday
morning commute on my way home, I decided to see if I could find an American
Bittern at Ogier Ponds. Sure enough, one was fishing, slowly but effectively
in the dawn sunlight, on the northern shore of the North Pond. It was quite
obvious. Barn and Cliff swallows also seemed obvious.

At the southwest edge of Colero Reservoir there was a Cattle Egret perched in
a tree along the shore. A Great Egret and a Snowy Egret were both nearby for
comparison purposes, although they stayed down in the water where the CAEG is
seldom found. The bill of the CAEG was small and yellow, with its legs and
feet dark. There may have been just a hint of pink at the back of the head.
North of the reservoir both Golden Eagles were in evidence, with one of them
staying on the nest; this is on the usual nest-platform on the 4th power tower
west from McKean Road.
