[SBB] Fwd: Big Basin bird & butterfly weekend July 8-10

Hello South Bay Birders,
Yesterday I posted this on peninsula-birding, and today I got replies 
asking me to also post it on SBB -- after all, Big Basin is just over 
the hill and some of the presenters are from Santa Clara County.

This is a little off-topic, but I wanted to mention that this year 
Wings Over the Basin features the author of "Rare Bird: Pursuing the 
Mystery of the Marbled Murrelet".  This is a new book which I had an 
opportunity to read a few days ago.  I found the book captivating, 
especially since the old growths on the coastal side of the Santa Cruz 
mountains are the southernmost range of this enigmatic bird.   Marbled 
Murrelets are featured at the Saturday evening campfire presentation 
and at the Sunday dawn survey.

Other highlights:
- Butterflies!  (Friday evening campfire presentation and Saturday 
afternoon walk with a biologist from Pinnacles National Monument)
- Woodpeckers!  (Sunday morning talk and walk)
