All,
Cricket and I visited the Mountain View Forebay at the Charleston
Slough entrance where we quickly relocated the two WHITE-FACED IBIS. We
managed to get a few mediocre digiscope images. The older bird is
really stunning with a full white edge to the face and deep chestnut
head and forest green/copper iridescence on the back. Lovely!
Elsewhere we got great looks at a BURROWING OWL sitting on the fence
near the Jubilee Christian Center in Alviso, and another Burrowing Owl
at the intersection of State and Spreckles. Wind was too heavy to
continue after that, but it sure was beautiful, even if we couldn't
hold our binoculars steady.
