I thought I'd check Oka Ponds today to see if any snipe had arrived.
I saw Mallards, Coots, Pied billed Grebes, a few D.C. Cormorants, f.
Belted Kingfisher, 9 Green Herons, one Caspian Tern and a dozen
Forsters Terns. Some juvenile Forster Terns were a nice surprise.
Near Snipe Island I found an ORANGE CROWNED WARBLER gleaning the
blackberry bushes with a male W. TANAGER in the same area. As I left
through the gate I saw quite a bit of activity in a eucalyptus trees
to the east. One tree contained 6 first year male WESTERN TANAGERS,
one first year male BLACK HEADED GROSBEAK, and 2 Band tailed Pigeons.
