[SBB] Milpitas Kumlien's Gull

I've just returned from a 9 day visit to St. John's, Newfoundland where I studied and photographed winter gulls including Kumlien's Iceland Gulls of all ages and variety of plumages. There were tens of hundreds of these to work with, some just paces away. I've posted 31 photos at http://www.pbase.com/jpkln/kumliens, 9 of which are 2nd cycle birds. As one can see, Al's bird compares quite well to some of the latter. With the St. John's experience still fresh in my mind I have little doubt that the Hidden Lake gull is a Kumlien's.

Birders
Today I located a second year bird showing features consistent with a
Kumlien's (Iceland) Gull. The bird was at Hidden Lake, Milpitas, Santa Clara
County. The lake is on Milpitas Blvd, slightly south of Tramway. Here are
photos of the bird for those interested in what it looked like.

As always, comments welcome on the identification. I realize that Iceland
Gull sends shivers up the spines of some birder's, but this bird does look
OK. Regards Al
