All,
At about 12:30 today Frank Vanslager and I had a LONG-EARED OWL in an
evergreen near the parking lot for the Elm Picnic Area in the northern section of
Ed Levin Co. Park (below Sandy Wool Lake). A RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH was also
heard calling in one of the evergreens southeast of the parking lot. Earlier
at Arzino Ranch 30 to 40 AMERICAN PIPITS joined hundreds of Gulls,
LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS, CANADA GEESE and two CACKLING GEESE in the flooded fields. The
pond at State and Spreckles in Alviso had a fair number of MEW GULLS (not
much else) and we were unable to find anything of note at the Coyote Creek
Field Station.
Take care,
Bob Reiling
