All,
Yesterday 12/10/05, at about 4:30pm, Mike Mammoser found a female-plumaged AMERICAN REDSTART along the western edge of the Coyote Creek Golf Course. Coming from Monterey Highway, the access road for the golf course crosses Coyote Creek and then climbs a small rise to a stop sign. Turn left and head north towards the maintenance yard at the end of the road. The redstart was near a telephone pole on the left side of the road, a bit south of the maintenance yard, perhaps a quarter-mile from the stop sign.
After enjoying the male Baikal Teal in Lompoc this morning 12/11/05, Mike and I made a check for his redstart on our drive home. The AMERICAN REDSTART was again present, a bit south of where it was yesterday, at about 3:40pm. Although at times difficult to see, it was very vocal and its chipping helped locate the bird several times. An ALEUTIAN CACKLING GOOSE was behind the clubhouse (also found by Mike Mammoser yesterday) and an OSPREY was perched at Parkway Lake.
