Hello,
For the first time in several years I saw a BURROWING OWL at Sunnyvale
Baylands Park today. Actually, the Owl was just outside the park on the
Twin Creeks Sports Complex property. If one walked straight back through
the amphitheater area of Sunnyvale Baylands Park to the beginning of the
wooden walkway, turned left and walked along the chain link fence, the Owl
was just a few feet inside this fence. The Owl was in the corner of this
field before the park trail turns away from the chain link fence.
A single PIED-BILLED GREBE has been in the pond at the park for a couple of
weeks. I see it there most days. The SAY'S PHOEBE was hunting along the
field fence today. I saw two NORTHERN FLICKERS together in the ropes course
area today but I didn't see them closely enough to determine markings or
wing lining colors.
