All,
Between Snowy Plover surveys today 8/27/05, Mike Mammoser and I checked out the mouth of Stevens Creek (starting shortly after 1pm). There were 22 RED KNOTS here, most in basic/juvenile plumage but at least one bird was in partial alternate plumage. There were at least 8 LEAST TERNS in Salt Pond A2E, including at least 3 juveniles, but more unexpected was a juvenile RUDDY TURNSTONE with PEEPS and SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS along the southern edge of the pond.
There were still at least 2 active GREAT EGRET nests with vocal large young along Shorebird Way in Mountain View.
Mike Rogers
