Hi All,
A juvenile Grasshopper Sparrow, with its scaly-looking back and thin necklace of fine streaks, was at Monte Bello OSP near the main parking lot at 4PM in the coyote brush about 1/4 mile up the trail that parallels Page Mill Rd. (to the right/upslope of the trail just after it first bends away from the road.) It was associating with a small group of juncos.
Otherwise, the preserve was very quiet. A couple of Lazuli Buntings were still near the little pond below Gate 5 (a female and juvenile). On 8/22 a fledgling LAZB was still begging from a female there (presumably this was the same pair). Getting a bit late for that, maybe?
