All,
This morning Frank Vanslager and I had two adult and one banded juvenile
CASPIAN TERN on the first (eastern most) island in Salt Pond A16. The left leg
of the Juvenile CATE had a bright red band while the right leg had a medium
blue to blue-green band. We also had at least five VAUX'S SWIFTS flying low
over the Environmental Education Center building.
Some good news; the water level in New Chicago Marsh is definitely being
raised. Several areas that had recently dried out now have water. The water
level still has a ways to go but it's good to see that those who are
responsible for maintaining the water are now at work. I would personally like to
thank Dean Manley for without his efforts the correct personnel would not have
been alerted to the water level problem.
Take care,
Bob Reiling
