[SBB] Black Tern, etc.

The BLACK TERN continued today at salt pond A2E (east of Stevens Creek,
just north of Crittenden Marsh. It had appeared as of my third scan of
the distant boardwalk, at 9:25, and stayed there about 12 minutes. It
appeared to be a juvenile in a good but distant scope view (in which the
finest details might not be visible). My peak count of LEAST TERNs was
only 36. There were also 3 BROWN PELICANs at A2E. Nearly all the Swallows
I saw at Crittenden and vicinity were Barn, but I did spot one each of
TREE SWALLOW and CLIFF SWALLOW.
As Bob Reiling's message implied, my next stop was the Sunnyvale WPCP
ponds; when I arrived, Bob was already observing the FRANKLIN'S FULL in
the water. As of 11:45, it was up on the west levee of the central
channel, preening and, over the next 15 minutes, providing by far the
best views I've ever had of a (near) juvenile Franklin's. Other birds
included 3 flyover BROWN PELICANs, a flock of about 35 RED-NECKED PHALAROPEs,
and about a dozen or so BONAPARTE'S GULLs. Here the only swallow species
I noticed was VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOW, with probably close to 100 present.
