Folks:
The 2005 Palo Alto Summer Bird Count was held on 4 Jun 2005. We totaled
148 species of birds for this count, now in its 25th year. Big increases
were seen in Canada Geese and American Crows--no surprise. Low counts were
the _Contopus_ flycatchers: Olive-sided Flycatcher and Western
Wood-Pewee. Wood Ducks were missed for the first time in 25 years, while
Belted Kingfishers and Pygmy Nuthatches were missed for only the second
time. Willow Flycatcher and Great-tailed Grackle were new for the count.
A count summary (pdf) has been provided to all participants who provided
email addresses. If anyone would like a copy, please reply off-line.
