Good evening SBBs.....
This morning Kristine Long and I went in search of Clapper Rails out at Palo
Alto Baylands...we arrived at low tide....7:45 and stopped at the Snowy
Egret Colony....saw so many different size Snowy Egrets..it was amazing...
>From there we headed out on the boardwalk to find the Clapper
Rail....Kristine (a lifer for Kristine) spotted one ontop of the pickle weed and we
watched and waited till it came down the pickleweed and past us down Clapper Alley.
>From there we checked the birds out in the bay from the boardwalk....again
another Clapper Rail but this time with a chick...just amazing to watch....and
another adult spotted running back into the pickleweed.
>From there we went to the other end where the boat docks is....there we met
and enjoyed some birding with Roy Carlson....always a pleasure Roy....we
checked out Least and Western Sandpipers, lots of Long-billed Curlews, Marbled
Godwits, Willets, and Semi-palmated Plovers....a few Forster's Tern flying and
diving....
All and all a great morning of birding...
Wishing you all good birding and my best regards,
Linda Sullivan
