I found a SAY'S PHOEBE perched on a fence in the meadow at
Quicksilver Co. Park tonight at 7:30 pm. I went in the McAbee
entrance and up Mine Hill Trail. The phoebe was fly catching in the
meadow on the left, just as you start up the steep hill. A Black
Phoebe was perched nearby for comparison. It's a perfect location for
the SAPH, but was the first time I'd seen one in the meadow.
At least 100 Am. Crows flew over heading south. A juv. Coopers Hawk
kept me company and crossed the trail in front of me several times.
He was hunting low over the same meadow and eventually perched on the
fence. An adult White tailed Kite was calling from the top of the oak
where the juvenile was seen last week.
