Good evening SBBs.....
Started out at Vasona to check on the 8 active nests.....We should have
chicks in all of them now....it was a wonderful morning watching the GBHE feed
chicks, some nests the chicks are now alone as they are approaching the 5week
age mark....
>From Vasona, I birded around and decided to go back to Steven's Creek Parks
Cooley Picnic area.....there I was thrilled to get killer looks at a
Black-throated Gray warbler, Warbling Vireo, Black-headed Grosbeaks and a Western
Tanager....as I crossed the street and walked toward the rangers station I
watched a Song Sparrow collecting bugs and then flew into the poison oak....Had
Orange-crowned Warblers singing up a storm....and a good look at a Townend's
Warbler.....also calling but not seen was a Pacific Slope Flycatcher....
On the way out I stopped at the Fire Station and watched Tree Swallows, an
awesome male Purple Finch....had a calling Olive-sided Flycatcher....Quick
Three Beer call....and more Black-headed Grosbeaks...
Wishing you all good birding and my best regards,
Linda Sullivan
