[SBB] Smith Creek, San Antonio Valley

Barbara and I were lucky enough to have picked this beautiful Sunday to
drive over Mt. Hamilton to San Antonio Valley. Wildflowers were target
number one, but I stopped and checked for birds at Smith Creek. In a brief
visit in which I was mainly looking for photo ops, I saw/heard three
singing male BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAKS, heard a singing CASSIN'S VIREO, three
ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS. Saw a couple of BAND-TAILED PIGEONS. The only
picture I got was a distant one of a singing Grosbeak:

Along the road through San Antonio Valley, saw one LEWIS'S WOODPECKER, 2
BULLOCK'S ORIOLES, and at the junction, a singing male HOUSE WREN. I sure
would have liked to get a shot at the Lewis's, but no luck. Did get this
one of the wren:

The birds were a little thin both places, but there was no room for any
disappointment. The flowers in the valley were unbelievable. No pictures
can do them justice, and mine certainly don't, but here a couple as faint
suggestions of what's there.
