Finally when I was walking back to the parking lot, the GREATER ROADRUNNER suddenly appeared in the open just a few feet away, on the west side of the Marina entrance road, just south of the restrooms. It walked around casually and went into the bushes but then it found a patch of sunlight and stayed there for a while, fluffed up and sunning itself. I waved to Mark Jenkins who was on the dike at this point, and he was able to get back and watch as well. I had my scope and digital camera but the bird was too close (15 feet away) so I could just the head. http://www.geocities.com/spiderhunters/bird_pics.html A flock of BUSHTITS finally broke its reverie and it went further into the bushes and then stayed out of sight.
