You mention that the Tricolored Blackbird population has increased and that they are primarily male. We've noticed similar increases in Red-winged Blackbirds at our white millet feeders, which seems common each late summer & fall. The thing that has us puzzled is that they are nearly all males. Most days 100% male. Since blackbirds are so colonial it seems strange. Anybody know why?
