Our building is located on Hellyer Road in south San Jose, next to the field and is against some dry hills with rocky outcrops. I thought her spotting of a Greater Roadrunner was ironic, with all the recent SBB postings on the Alviso Roadrunner. So today I made it a point to check the field about every hour and sure enough, at 11:00AM I spotted a Greater Roadrunner darting and occasionally jumping for insects in the field. I observed it for about 20 minutes until it made its way into some Oaks, apparently for the shade. The highlight was having a Coyote (Wylie!) appear in the background while looking at the bird! Fortunately the Coyote wasn’t interested in the Roadrunner. I’d always though this area might be suitable habitat for this bird species. It certainly is for Coyotes, which are seen regularly in the fields and hills around the building. _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
