Both male RUFFS were in New Chicago Marsh, the channel adjacent to the Environmental Education Center entrance road. These guys seem to stay very close to one another these days (often side by side and seldom more than 6 to 8 feet apart). Anyone have a story on why the light colored male still has barred tertials, delayed molt or what? We also had three HERMIT THRUSHES, very close together and out in the open, in the sunshine, on the east bank of the newly paved path that goes from the EEC parking lot to Salt Pond A16. We could've covered all three birds with a small hand towel. A BARN OWL was in the nest box in the trees above the same paved path.
