It was swimming with a Bonaparte's Gull with the dark ear spot, but the bird in question was very brown on the cap, the back and sides of the neck, much of the face, and the back, scapulars, and coverts. The brown extended far down the shoulder toward the white breast. It was picking food off the surface of the water like a Phalarope. I post this as an alert to better birders than I who may be able to see this juvenile as a more unusual gull.
