A BURROWING OWL was spotted on the hill near the parking lot. We walked north on a new tarred trail that turned west at the bottom of a barren hill and walked along a levee. An adult PEREGRINE FALCON and Red TAILED HAWK were perched on a tower. Many MARSH WRENS, COMMON YELLOWTHROATS AND COMMON MOORHENS were seen along the water channel. Near the wooden bridge at the west end of the trail we could see a variety of ducks further west in a wide spot, including CINNAMON TEAL AND BLUE-WINGED TEAL males. We were too far away to discern other birds except for some RED NECKED STILTS, KILLDEER AND a GREAT BLUE HERON. ******************************************************************** I looked for the AM. BITTERN at the water district at noon today but people were fishing in the area and it was not found.
