The San Jose Christmas Bird Count will be held this year on Sunday, December 19. Please join us for year 105 of this extravaganza. No experience necessary. Identification skills are great but so are spotting and tallying. So, just come and enjoy wildlife just doing its thing. San Jose covers a wide variety of habitats from urban (Guadalupe River Park) to watershed (Calaveras Reservoir), shore (Don Edwards Bay National Wildlife Refuge) to foothills (Alum Rock). Something to suit everyone's taste. Please join us for a full day of birding followed by the countdown dinner. Our countdown dinner this year will be at the Leininger Center in Kelley Park. If you are interested, please contact me. Let me know if you are interested in any particular kind of habitat, and I will put you in touch with one of our sector leaders for more details. Speaking of sector leaders, we are short a sector leader this year for the Berryessa Hills sector which encompasses part of Ed Levin. Duties should be light: coordinating volunteers into several parties, getting the parties started in the morning, collecting results from them at the end of the day. If you would be willing to help out this year in this capacity, please let me know. Thanks & Best Regards, Kirsten R.
