RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES were all over the top of the hill, some actually seeming to move in small flocks of 4 to 6 birds. Is this normal for Henry Coe or is it an irruptive year for these species? Some other species included MERLIN (2), AMERICAN KESTREL, WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCH (just two), OAK TITMOUSE, CHESTNUT-BACKED CHICKADEE, DARK-EYED JUNCO, HAIRY WOODPECKER, NUTTALL'S WOODPECKER, and ACORN WOODPECKER. General bird activity was high, at one point an entire, large Oak Tree was alive with a fast moving, mixed flock of BUSHTITS, CBCH, OATI, and RBNU. Birders sighted included Kathy Parker, Peggy Don (RECR being a life bird for her) and Peggy's husband (Al?).
