I got to the park at 11:30 am and caught up to Linda and Ralph Adams along the trail. Just before reaching the junction of Monument, Frog Lake and Vista trails we heard, and then saw, a very large flock of Red Crossbills fly into the Ponderosas just up the Vista trail 150-200 feet. Probably the same trees where Dean Manley saw them. At times they all would fly out and circle the area, then return to the same tree. We estimated about 40 of them were there. It was foggy and most the views were of colorless birds, but I did manage to make out one clear male and female.
