I went along with that, but didn't quite believe that a Coopers Hawks made the kek, kek, kek sound I've been hearing in two wooded area's of Quicksilver for years now. Well a Coopers Hawk set out to prove me wrong tonight. As I came down the Senador trail nearing the chimneys a Coopers Hawk circled overhead calling kek, kek, kek, kek and then flew into the trees where I've been hearing what I thought was a Western Screech Owl. Sorry about that, but a good lesson learned. I birded in several nearby parks today seeing lots of good birds but also some unusual sightings. Western Screech owl sitting in tree cavity in Guadalupe Oak Grove Park Doe chasing a coyote in Guadalupe Oak Grove Park Gopher snake in a small tree with numerous birds giving alarm call two Golden Eaglets near Calero, one on platform and other on nearby tower 2 adult female wild pigs and 9 piglets near Chesbro reservoir chipmunks and rabbits in Quicksilver 6 Wild Turkeys in Quicksilver Warbling Vireo imitating a Steller's Jay ( I saw his beak move to call) Janna Pauser Almaden area _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
