It was quite windy and I didn't find any migrants in the trees. A TREE SWALLOW and an immature RED-SHOULDERED HAWK were along Artesian Slough on the drive in. At least 220 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES swimming along the southern edge of pond A16 allowed close study and a BLACK SKIMMER flew over to southern A18. Well over a hundred each of BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS (most very drab) and DOWITCHERS were out in New Chicago Marsh. A COMMON RAVEN flew west with a pilfered egg. Viewing from State and Spreckles turned up 28 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS and 18 WESTERN SANDPIPERS. Along Disk Drive were a WESTERN KINGBIRD and two BURROWING OWLS, one foraging by day (hovering over the field and diving on prey several times). Another surprising daytime forager was a STRIPED SKUNK here on Moffett Field. Mike Rogers _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
