The only time I have ever seen them do so is when they are nest-building, as they are this week on my nestbox trails. Careful observation should reveal them picking up dry grass and feathers, and also where they are taking them to. Nesting records for this species have value as it is one of our declining neotropical migrants; such records are likely to be useful in tracking local population trends over time. It would be nice to know, for example, if our network of nestboxes in prime locations were to have a positive impact eventually! (Like Tree Swallows, they are cavity nesters who love nestboxes.) --Garth Harwood ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gordon Barrett" <[[email protected]]> To: <[[email protected]]> Sent: Saturday, May 15, 2004 4:34 PM Subject: [SBB] Villa Maria Basics > As the list below reveals, I saw nothing unusual at Villa Maria > Picnic Area today, Saturday, May 15, 2004.
