No luck with migrants. I estimated 18+ SNOWY EGRET nests in the palms near the old fountain at the Duck Pond, either incubating or with nestlings. I guessed that there were 6-12 BLACK-CROWNED HERON NESTS west of the Ranger's Station, many with nestlings, 2-4 in with the Snowies, and another 2-3 in palms on the west side of the Duck Pond. I did not see any sign of Great Egrets. I also stopped at the end of Embarcadero Way for migrants and saw two WESTERN TANAGERS and heard a SWAINSON'S THRUSH and a BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK singing. A male ALLEN'S HUMMINGBIRD may be a post-breeding dispersant. AMERICAN CROWs are building a nest in one of the eucalypts here.
