A birder friend had up close views of a Yellow Billed
Loon while on a 'Safari' trip through the waters of
Elkhorn Slough on Sunday, May 3.  This was a guided
tour in a flat, motorized boat.  The Loon swam
alongside the boat while a Leopard Shark also swam
alongside and then under the boat.  How unusual is 
the sighting of a Yellow Billed Loon in this area.  I
forgot to ask whether it was a mature male.
