I don't have the original request for information, but maybe someone out there remembers and does have it? It does look more like a redtail than a red shoulder. Today, at 11:30am, while driving down Zanker Rd. in Alviso, I came across an unusual hook-billed raptor. I have 8 pretty good photos on my website (in the folder Unusual Raptor). Please look at these photos and help me to determine what kind of bird this is (pretty please!). > Unfortunately, the bird was perched on top of a phone pole near the bend in the road before the garbage dump. This area is a top security area and is under constant surveilance. A guard shooed me away within 4 minutes. Luckily, I got photos first!!!
