On 4/21/04 I went to Half Moon Bay. It the harbor just north, where the creek enters the bay, I found a cooperative gull sitting next to a sick (?) Western Gull, both of which failed to flush when dozens of other gulls flushed. It's coloring is a light grey/white all over body with a mostly white neck and head (darkish area around dark eyes), black beak and bright pink legs. It stood nearly as tall as the adult Western Gull. Sibley says the Western is about 24" and the Iceland is about 22". My conclusion is that it's probably an immature Iceland Gull. Please look at the pictures (under Gulls) in my website, address given below, and let me know what you think. Thanks very much. Jean Myers P.S. Sorry for the delay, at the time, I didn't know that it was an unusual gull, I was taking pictures of the sick Western Gull!
