This seemed a high number to me. The first Gnatcatcher was on the Betsy Crowder trail, the other two a little higher up, on Meadow Trail and an unnamed trail connecting these trails. One Gnatcatcher was in the same oak tree as a singing Hutton's Vireo. Also noted were Hutton's and Warbling Vireos (at least 2 each), one singing House Wren, one singing Lazuli Bunting and many other species of birds. A month ago on Sausal Pond there were one pair each of Hooded Mergansers, Mallard and Ring-Necked Duck. This time we could only find Mallards.
